Meet the Doctor

Dr. Eric Hein

Dr. Eric Hein is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He attended Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia followed by a traditional internship at Greenville Hospital System in Greenville, South Carolina. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and further specialized with a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Hein has been involved in clinical trials with the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group. The network, which was formed in 1997, is funded by the National Eye Institute (NEI). He has also served as a reviewer for Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus and Journal of Ocular Biology. He has been an invited speaker at local and regional meetings on topics related to pediatric eye disease. He has a number of publications in the medical literature and collaborated with Dr. Scott R. Lambert on a book chapter covering pediatric cataract surgery.

Dr. Hein is trained in the management of pediatric and adult strabismus, pediatric cataracts, and a variety of amblyopia treatments. He manages thyroid eye disease, orbital myositis, pediatric eyelid disorders and congenital ptosis, pediatric glaucoma, and general pediatric ophthalmology conditions. He also has an interest in Botox and bupivacaine treatment for pediatric and adult strabismus.
